Several Brazilians are dazzled by the magic and charm of other countries. Travel is synonymous with knowledge, especially in a country other than Brazil. An international trip can become an unforgettable adventure.
Although an international trip can become unique and exclusive, it is not so easy to leave Brazil and travel abroad. Some countries require the passport, which is the main document for travelers out of the country.
How does the Passport work?
The passport is issued by the Federal Police and the embassies of Brazil abroad. For those over 18 years, the passport is valid for ten years. Those who are under the age of the passport have validity according to a table where it goes from one to five years. The younger the child is, the shorter the validity of the document.
For anyone traveling abroad should keep in mind that the process can take a few days, perhaps quite possible, months. The Brazilian citizen must have voted in the last election, or have justified the vote or have paid the fine.
If you are a man you must have no debts with compulsory military service. And it should not be sought or prevented from obtaining the passport by Justice.
Before you begin to fill out the Federal Police's initial form, make sure you have the documents that will be requested in the next steps, they are:
- Identity Document - RG; CNH with proof of the place of birth; under 12 years, the birth certificate; if the person changed name on account of the marriage will have to carry the marriage certificate; if the person has changed his / her name due to gender issues, he / she should bring the old and new documents;
- Electoral Title and voting vouchers; if you have lost a voucher, carry a certificate of electoral discharge, which can be obtained on the TSE website.
- Document proving discharge with military service, this document is valid only for men.
Once you have all the documents in hand it is necessary that you fill out the form, which is available on the website of the Federal Police. The application asks for information such as: the name, date of birth and number of documents required.
These data are collected through the website and sent to the National Passport System (Sinpa). Still on the form tab, you will choose the location of the understanding, where there is a list of cities.
Taking your passport demands time, patience and money! After filling in you will click the "Confirm" button. Then "Print Protocol / GRU". The GRU is the Union Collection Guide and costs R $ 257,25, the amount must be paid respecting the expiration date.
The GRU payment receipt and the protocol must be presented in the face-to-face stage of the FP, together with the cited documentation. After the money has fallen into the account of the PF, you can make your appointment for the face-to-face service.
The face-to-face attendance is carried out in one of the units of the PF, where you will choose the day and time, some places are signaled which means that the queue is in order of arrival. The queues, on a first-come, first-served basis, are usually extensive.
On the day of the appointment you must arrive with 15 minutes in advance and with all documents and proof of payment at hand. At the site, you will take your photo on the spot and have your fingerprints collected.
When everything is ready, the passport will only be delivered personally, at the chosen PF station in the holder's hands. In the case of minors, children must be present with the legal guardian.
