Alitalia to promote Foz do Iguaçu among Italian and European tourists




Deputy Governor Cida Borghetti visited the educational group CEPU Group in Milan. Cida was welcomed by the honorary chairman of the group, Francesco Polidori, executive director of the international department, Pietro Polidori and by Professor Cesare Triberti.


Paraná has partnered with the airline Alitalia to promote and promote destinations in Paraná, especially Foz do Iguaçu, and increase the flow of European tourists in the state. The cooperation was agreed in Milan at a meeting of Deputy Governor Cida Borghetti with the directors of the company Manola Porta (marketing), Debora Latini (marketing for Latin America) and Rosela Nastri (sales). The mayor of Foz do Iguaçu, Reni Pereira, also participated.


According to the deputy governor, the promotion of Paraná is part of the process of consolidating a direct flight between Italy and Foz do Iguaçu. The route has been negotiated since the beginning of the year with Alitalia executives. Today only 7% of the Italians that come to the Country visit Foz do Iguaçu.


"It is a commercial operation and we seek to create demand in order to establish the route commercially," said Cida Borghetti.


The deputy governor also stressed the economic importance of creating new routes and seek to increase tourism in Paraná. "The tourism industry generates jobs and income. Out of every ten jobs created in the country, one is through tourism."


ALITALIA - Alitalia simulates destinations, considering Rome or Milan, and evaluates technical and financial possibilities, combining flight with tourism and cargo and also with the inclusion of a stop in some Mercosur capital. "It is a process in which financial, technical and logistical aspects are under analysis," says Cida Borghetti.


The negotiations are supported by the Municipality of Foz do Iguaçu, Itaipu Binacional and the federal government, through Embratur and the Brazilian embassy in Italy.


The mayor of Foz do Iguaçu, Reni Pereira, highlighted the city's potential to increase the flow of tourists. "Foz receives about 16 thousand visitors a year but has the potential to double the number in the next six months," said Pereira.


TAP - The deputy governor negotiated a similar cooperation with the Portuguese airline TAP. In a meeting with the general manager of the company for Italy and Greece, Araci Coimbra, it was defined the increase of the promotion of Paraná in the sales channels of the company.


It was also agreed that Italian tourists could fly flights via Rome or Milan to the final destination of Foz do Iguaçu using partners from the company in Brazil. TAP is the largest European hub company for Brazil with 80 flights covering 11 capitals and has agreements with all domestic business areas.


Cida Borghetti also participated in a seminar at the Brazilian embassy in Rome to promote Paraná and Foz do Iguaçu to Italian tourism operators. With the theme Foz do Iguaçu, Destination of the World, the event brought together the main tour operators in the region, responsible for 80% of the emission of packages destined for Brazil.
