The president of the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), Vinícius Lummertz, the deputy governor of Paraná, Cida Borghetti, and the mayor of Foz do Iguaçu, Reni Pereira, met to discuss the possible creation of a flight linking the city to Italy no scales.
The route would be operated by the airline Alitalia, with which negotiations on the project have already begun. "This direct connection can transform Foz do Iguaçu into a large hub, distributing passengers to cities such as Brasilia, Florianópolis, Curitiba and other municipalities in the region," said Lummertz.
According to Borghetti, the Italian company is doing the technical and financial analysis related to the flight, which could start from Rome or Milan, perhaps having as final destination some capital of Mercosur. The next meeting with Alitalia is scheduled to take place in September, during the Brazilian week at Expo Milan 2015.
