54 ANNUAL MEETING OF SBZ - The edition of the largest meeting of national zootechnics in 2017 will be in Foz do Iguaçu

Foz do Iguaçu is considered the City of Waters, and it is not for less, after all, in our city is one of the 7 natural wonders of mankind, the Iguaçu Falls, formed by the 275 waterfalls of the Iguaçu River. Our magnificent geographical position puts the city of Foz do Iguacu as one of the best municipalities for events throughout Brazil, not only for the sumptuous scenery, but also for the impeccable infrastructure offered in the most diverse events and their segments.

• We have come here, but where will we go?

Questions such as this have plagued human beings since primordial ages, for the rediscovery that we may be better than we are or are is held to every achievement achieved, and is no different with zootechnics. Experts in agriculture and animal production believe that until 2021 Brazil can be a world leader in food supply, after all, with the technical and scientific advance of animal production, makes our country a reference in genetics, technology, products and knowledge.

The big question is: how can we go beyond and improve even more, even being among the world powers and being a reference in the subject? What new challenges will we face? What awaits us? Subjects such as rational use of water and soil; dependence on oil for food production; valuation of diversified production systems; environmental and ethical issues influencing research and production should be discussed so that Brazil continues to be a reference in the area, as well as being an excellent opportunity to debate the very role of the Scientific Society in the face of these challenges.
